Crawling / Scooting on the Floor

My mother has dementia and is in a memory care facility. She is physically fit & completely able to walk. However, she started scooting on her bottom, rather than walking this week. She has become obsessed with doing odd / extreme stretches in her recliner chair, then slides off the end of the seat and scoots across the floor on her bottom. It started a couple of weeks ago with walking sideways, or backwards. We've run a urinalysis, taken her to a chiropractor, and had her ears checked for infection. There seems to be no reason for this, and it breaks my heart to see her so angry. Since COVID started, I've had her work out with a Zoom trainer 3 days a week. Her balance and strength have been excellent. Now, she refuses to do any organized workouts, and will only stretch in her chair & scoot on the floor. I would love to get some feedback on this if anyone has had the same experience, or additional ideas. Thank you!
