About Kem

The American R&B/Soul singer-songwriter and producer Kim Owens, also known by the stage name Kem, was born on July 23, 1969. Her estimated net worth is $1.5 million. Kem was raised in the Detroit region and was born Kim Owens (he later changed the spelling of his first name after he started performing). Although he has publicly declined to disclose his age, it has been assumed that he was born in the 1960s or the early 1970s based on remarks he has made in past interviews. He started learning how to play the piano when he was 5 years old, and a babysitter also taught him some music. His love for music developed early.

By the time Kem entered high school, he was a member of the choir and a lover of musicians from the jazz, R&B, and pop genres, including Grover Washington Jr., Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, and Al Jarreau.

American R&B/Soul singer–songwriter and producer Kem has an estimated net worth of $1.5 million dollars, as of 2023. Kem wrote, produced, and financed his self-released debut album, Kemistry.

“I left my parents’ home when I was 19. And I left as a teenager who was lost, depressed, insecure, full of fear and trying to mask all of that with alcohol and drugs.” Kem to Ebony magazine.

Full name: Kem Owens. Born July 23, in Nashville, Tenn. Raised in Detroit, Michigan.

Drug abuse and homelessness

Kem struggled with drug and alcohol addiction after leaving home at the age of 19 following his high school graduation. He spent some time moving about from place to place while homeless. He eventually checked into a shelter in downtown Detroit, but as conditions worsened, he was forced to spend the night sleeping on the streets. He sank as low as he could before turning to God with his hand outstretched. In the early 1990s, after pulling himself up and getting off the streets, he joined the Renaissance Unity Church in the Detroit suburbs and started playing music with his friends once more while simultaneously holding day jobs.

Career in the Profession

He left his day job in 2001 to devote all of his time to music-making. He self-released his debut album, Kemistry, the following year. The CD garnered 10,000 sales and the interest of the Motown record label, which in 2003 signed Kem to a five-album deal. Due in large part to the track “Love Calls,” the debut album, Kemistry, sold over 500,000 copies and earned gold status in the United States. His third album, Intimacy, was published in August 2010 and did equally well when it was first released in 2005.

Promise To Love, Kem’s fourth studio album, was released in 2014. On Steve Harvey Morning Show, Kem performed the Grammy-nominated song “Nobody”

Then, in 2020, Kem put out his fifth studio album, Love Always Wins, which included Toni Braxton on the top-charting singles “Lie To Me” and “Live Out Your Love” Kem’s net worth is projected to reach $1.5 million as of 2023.
